BCU Remote Deposit FAQ
Here are some of the common questions members ask about Remote Deposit with Bridgewater Credit Union, a division of Merrimack Valley Credit Union.
Q. When can I make Remote Deposits?
A. You can make a remote deposit any time, any day. Remote deposits received before 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time Monday through Friday (except holidays) will be processed the same day. Deposits received after 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time or a non-business day will be processed on the next business day. Checks may be subject to holds. Please refer to our check hold policy.
Q. Are there limits to the amount of checks or value of the checks I can remotely deposit?
A. There is no limit to how many checks you can submit via remote deposit, however the deposits are limited to the following accounts:

**For the purposes of the "monthly" limits for the Remote Deposit service, a month means thirty (30) calendar days.
Q. What types of checks cannot be scanned with Remote Deposit:
A. The following checks cannot be scanned with Remote Deposit:
- Savings Bonds
- Foreign Checks
- Checks made out to a Third Party
- Checks previously endorsed by Bridgewater Credit Union
- Checks written from your account at another financial institution (For example: John Doe writes a check from his checking account at XYZ Credit Union to deposit in his Bridgewater Credit Union checking account).
Q. Will there be a hold on my check scanned with Remote Deposit?
A. Checks drawn from Bridgewater Credit Union with our routing number (211381314 or 211384926) on the bottom, will not be subject to a hold. If a check is drawn on a local financial institution, a two business day hold will be placed. All other checks will be subject to a seven or more business day hold.
Q. How long should I hold onto my check after I scan it with Remote Deposit?
A. After you mark the original check "scanned" or "processed", you should securely store the original check for 45 days from the time you receive notice from Bridgewater Credit Union that the file containing the images of such checks has been received.
Q. Which devices can be used for Remote Deposit?
A. Remote deposit can be used through Bridgewater Credit Union's Mobile Banking App on iPhones, iPads, and Android powered smartphones. Remote deposit can also be done using a scanner and PC.
Q. Can I use Remote Deposit if I don't use Internet Explorer and/or Windows?
A. Firefox and Chrome for Windows/MAC and Safari 8+ users may now use Remote Deposit.
NOTE: We have found that the use of Yahoo, Google, & Comcast Toolbars can block your access to the Remote Deposit Website. We suggest that you disable/remove these toolbars prior to using Remote Deposit.
Q. What types of scanners can I use with Remote Deposit?
A. Most TWAIN compliant document scanners are supported.
Q. What are the system requirements to perform Remote Deposit?
A. To use Remote Deposit, you'll need:
- Operating system: Windows 7, iOS 8.0 or later, Android 4.1 and up
- Browser: Internet Explorer 11.0, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, or Safari 8 or higher
- Compatible with iPhone, iPad, iPod, Android powered smartphones
- High-speed internet connection
- TWAIN compliant document scanner
Q. How do I install scanner controls?
A. You must install either an ActiveX control or Java application on your computer in order for Remote Deposit to communicate with your scanner. Administrator rights may be required to install these controls. Users of Internet Explorer for Windows may opt to use either the ActiveX control or the Java application. Users of Firefox for Windows or MAC and Safari for MAC must use Java application.
