The Merrimack Valley Credit Union Executive Vice President shares her journey into leadership.

Lawrence, Mass. – March 21, 2024 — On Wednesday, March 13, Credit Union Times published an exclusive profile of Merrimack Valley Credit Union’s (MVCU) Executive Vice President, Chief Retail Officer and Chief People Officer Nicole James. The Q&A-style profile detailed James’ extensive experience as a credit union leader, the important lessons she has learned throughout her career and her big picture plans for the credit union community.

James, who has worked in the credit union industry for more than three decades, joined MVCU following a merger with RTN Federal Credit Union in 2023. In her current role, James oversees MVCU’s corporate communications and community relations, marketing, organizational development, human resources and retail banking departments.

Throughout her career, James has developed a passion for elevating those around her, including her credit union members and the team members she works with each day. In the Credit Union Times profile, James described her unique leadership role and how she plans to support both credit union members and staff.

“I have a unique dual role where I manage the external experience of our members — Chief Retail Officer — and the internal experience of our staff — Chief People Officer. I consider myself the steward of the MVCU team and the members we serve, and my work will advocate for new programs, technologies and benefits for our members; and exciting programs that will help our staff develop their skillsets and carve their desired career path.”
