What's the difference between a debit card and an ATM card?

When you use your debit card to make purchases, money is deducted from your checking account. A debit card can be used at just about any location that would accept a credit card, and may be used at an ATM.

An ATM card, however, can only be used at an ATM terminal to withdraw or deposit money, or at certain merchants that accept ATM transactions.  It cannot be used to make purchases at most terminals.

A free debit card is included when you open an account with MVCU. Check out our checking account options to determine which account is right for you.
